Why don't you define the path with the date components in the Hypermail
config file name hmrc.groupN, i.e. with the alias
"|/usr/local/bin/hypermail -i -u -c /path/to/hmrc.groupN"
which contains
dir = /var/spool/mailman/groups/n/%y/%M
and
label = N List Archive
I used to use the macros directly in the aliases file, but it just scared
me too much to depend on something that looked like a hack, so I went with
this.
Good luck.
