Change your config file (~/.hmrc or whatever).
The built-in default is to require all messages to have a message-id.
You can change this behaviour with
require_msgids = Off
(similarly for rejecting duplicate message-ids).
Use hypermail -v to see all of the things you can tweak and their default
settings.
