When the y2k issue was raised to the list, Kent said he thought it was good
to go. I ran a test and reported the results - it was *not* y2k capable.
 Kent quickly addressed the deficiencies I found, and I'm certain that by
the 2.0b3 version, the problems had been fixed.

I haven't been able to make much progress on testing the current lineage of
code, nor was my assessment an exhaustive compliance test. With that
caveat, I'd say that it's reasonable to assume the current version is com
pliant, until someone reports differently.
